In loving memory of DuDa, called DuDi (March 2012 – 29 September 2024).

DuDi was born in the freshness of spring 2012 and her life was a testament to the purest form of companionship a dog can offer.
DuDi was no ordinary dog, she was a model of obedience and trust. Her attentive ears were always raised, ready to pick up any command, which he obeyed with unflagging enthusiasm. Unlike many of her four-legged brothers, DuDi never felt the call to roam the neighbourhood alone or chase after anything. She was content to stay by the side of those she loved – a constant presence in an ever-changing world.

With a heart as big as the sky, DuDi’s affection knew no bounds. She greeted every human and dog with a wagging tail and a gentle cuddle, and her warm, shining eyes radiated a love that touched the souls of all who met her.

From boisterous children to fearful strays – DuDi’s gentle nature cast a spell of kindness over them all.

DuDi leaves a big hole in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was more than just a pet – she was a furry human friend who spread joy and comfort with every stroke of her head and every belly rub she received. The love she gave was returned tenfold, and neighbours, friends and family all had a special place in their hearts for this extraordinary dog.

As we say goodbye to DuDi, we are comforted by the memories of her unwavering companionship, her joyful bark, her unique wolf howl of delight, and the paw prints she left not only on the ground, but in our lives. Though she is no longer with us physically, DuDi’s spirit lives on in the kindness she inspired in us and in the love she so generously shared.

May you run free in the meadows of eternal sunshine, dear DuDi, endlessly chasing your canine friends Shadow and Chelsea in the sand and basking in the love you so richly deserved. You weren’t just a good girl, you were the best, and we will always miss you and remember you.

Rest in peace, sweet DuDi. Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
The life of DuDi (December 2012 – September 2024)
DuDi’s diary 2012-2024
Part 1: 2012-2014
8 December 2012
On this day, my future master saw me emaciated on the beach in Elounda and immediately took care of me. At first I was secured to a long rope in the garden and had my own kennel. As there was already Chelsea, the white terrier, I was supposed to be adopted by someone else.
That’s why I had only been given the name ‘Du-Da’, which was later changed to ‘DuDi’, so that not all the Germans on the beach immediately felt addressed and looked at us when my name was called.

9 December 2012
The next day I was allowed to go for a walk with the older terrier lady Chelsea.
22 December 2012
After two weeks, I was finally adopted and could lie in my new master’s bed with Chelsea!
Christmas 2012
And poof – I had my first Christmas together with the others! But I didn’t find the posed Christmas photos in Santa’s costume so funny!

4 January 2013
On this day, I got my own dog basket! However, Chelsea still squeezes into it from time to time.
2 April 2013
And now it’s getting really great: we now have a four-wheel-drive convertible that we can take on the most amazing trips together! Chelsea sits in the front passenger seat, and I’m in the back!
7 May 2013
Today was my first time at Malia beach, where I will be many more times in the future!
8 May 2013
On this day, I also got my first Flocati, which I was to keep for the rest of my life. My owner’s mum sent me the toy from Germany.
16 May 2013
I have now also visited Ierapetra and the south coast to the east for the first time, together with Chelsea. Here we are on the long sandy beach of Ierapetra.
27 May 2013
Now we went up to the Lassithi plateau. We saw the reservoirs and hiked through gorges.
4 June 2013
Now we also ride the quad bike together. I share a box on the back with Chelsea and we make a great biker team!
3 August 2013
On the evening of 3 August, we found Shadow on the side of the road on our way back from a trip. We nursed her back to health and she became my best friend for the next 10 years!

2 October 2013
Shadow is now completely healed and can run very fast again and together with Chelsea we have a lot of fun now!

22 October 2013
Now my mum Elvira came to visit me and we went to Sitia together!
28 October 2013
My master’s brother Jo also came to see me!
30 October 2013
We regularly took the Jimny up to Vrouhas to walk together while our master took us on a bike ride.
That same evening we all went for a big pizza together at Porto Rino in Elounda!
19 November 2013
I got a new dog basket today, as I gave my previous one to Shadow, for whose size it is better suited.

17 March 2014
In order to have more space for us, we have moved into a big house with an even bigger garden. We now also have a dog neighbour, the big, white Hector.

13 May 2014
Chelsea continues to live in Elounda, but she occasionally comes to visit for a few days or we pick her up. Then we go on great trips again, like this one up to the Azilakon forest high above Malia.

23 May 2014
On this day, we all drove up to the Lassithi plateau and hiked up to Karfi. The view from there is marvellous.

12 October 2014
We have a new friend, who also brought little Rabaucken Joseph with her. Here we all travelled together to Vrouhas to the end of the headland by the wind turbines.

19 October 2014
I’m not actually allowed to show the photo of us all lounging around in bed.

9 November 2014
And here they all are in one photo! Now we’re more than half a football team!

19 November 2014
Now the newcomers can ride with us all the time!

21 December 2014
Now I have to make sure that I always get my share in all the hustle and bustle!
